Champagne Lacourte Godbillon
Premier Cru Rosé
This bottle stopped me mid thought, mid sentence and simply struck me dead in my heart. It takes a lot to arrest my fervent mind and if I’m honest most wines just add flavor to my conversations these days. I enjoy so many types, and explore even more that my experience of wines has become awash with the world around the glass, garden or table, and less about the varietal or style.

I recently created a semi challenge for myself that I would have 8 bottles of actual champagne this year. It’s a relatively easy lift for a part time wine rep with lots of Champs in the portfolio, but I honestly find so much joy in most sparklers that I easily settle into old stand-bys in favor of risking the financial investment a decent bottle of Champagne incurs.

All that said. This bottle doesn’t count towards my 8 because it was being tasted with clients, but trust that it’s on the list for my next selfish pull.  
So what did I love about it? It transported me right to the feilds. It brought me into this effortlessly elegant space that made me feel loved and warm, safe and whole. It was pleasure through texture and delicious floral scents, flavored with a fresh and clean expression of pinot noir of the region. It’s so dumb, but it literally brought tears to my eyes before I even knew what was happening. My body reacted in such a way that I apologized to my conversation partner because I had to literally bow my head to drop out of the world I was in to join the vines in France.

December in California wine country is tough. There is nothing on the vines, everything in the glass and revelry with besties…. All without an overcoat. Call me spoiled and I won’t argue.
Thank you @rochewinery for creating space for me and my ladies to enjoy a sunny afternoon getting closer to the soil and closer to each other through laughs, found purses in bathrooms, and a sun setting earlier than we’d actually like. It was a perfect afternoon.
